    Dash design softwear

Hope I've got the right section,

I'm looking to build my own "dash" or rather redesg in the dash in my 2001 TD5 defender. 23 Sw2itches 4 guages, single din radio and two or more power outlets.

Years ago you use to be ablet buy softwear (cheap) DYI desing you own garden, house etc which did very basic drawings and contained a series of tools without beng over the top.

Anyone know of a cheap readly available cheap softwear product that does basc drawning (circule squares etc) that would help me draw up a dash. Thanks

Try Google SketchUp 7......it's a free download and may do the trick.

I've used Microsoft PowerPoint for this sort of thing in the past.

Easier and cheaper to use than a CAD package, most people have it on their PC, as a component of MS Office.

Here's a design I did in PowerPoint for a centre panel for my 110's Dash -

I made this in Aluminium, it had a double skinned section behind the clocks, so that they were mounted recessed, with their fronts flush to the front panel.

I no longer have the panel to take any pictures of, as I sold it at a Land Rover Autojumble, when I fitted the TD5 Dash to my 110.

I haven't got around to re-fitting my additional gauges yet, I have a 'MUD-Pod' to mount them in.
