Tracks around Thredbo/ Crackenback
Heading down to Crackenback/ Thredbo area for the Easter Holiday and wondering about tracks around that area and what your reco's are. I am just looking for some good scenery, moderate (on average) tracks that would be good for a day trip.
Also, any reco's on the best place to get electronic/ soft copies of trail maps wold be appreciated.
Thanks!

For something easy with pretty good scenery get around the Alpine Way to Geehi. From the Geehi rest area you can cross the Swampy Plains river to Behrs flat and Keebles Hut then do the second crossing of the Swampy Plains river (this crossing is a bit wider than the first) and do the Gheehi Walls and Major Clews fire trails. Easy going, good fishing, nice areas to stop for lunch etc. and good scenery.
There are more tracks on the other side of the Snowies around Kiandra way.
There is a book called '4WD tracks of the High Country' by Craig Lewis that has all the trek notes, I think I got mine from an ARB shop. Sorry can't help with map downloads
cheers,

Not a lot on the NSW side of the border - but cross the Murray at Tom Groggin, head up to Davies High Plains then cut across the Buckwong Track to the Mt Hope Rd and head north returning to Tom Groggin via the old Tom Groggin Track. A nice round trip and if time permits you could even detour on the return to Tom Groggin and take in Mt Anderson and Pinnibar.
Check track closures with Parks Victoria though as the Davies Track often gets closed early in the season. If that is the case then the loop from Tom Groggin via TG Track, Mt Anderson, Mt Pinnibar and return to TG is pretty good in itself.
