    Gibb River/Mitchell Plateau?

We're taking the new RRS 3.0 on its first trip up the Gibb and on to Mitchell Plateau/Falls, Drysdale River and nearby parts in June.
If any other LR owners are up there around the same time, would be nice to catch up or convoy for some of the way. Hopefully some of this year's big wet will have dried up a bit by then.

    Cheers, Greg

    Hi Greg,
Sounds like a great trip you have planned but I'll move this to General Chat as you'll might get more responses from other Land Rover owners.

It is a great trip...we won't be there this year as we there in '08...a thought for you...we went to Drysdale River and stayed there and took the plane flight up around Mitchell Falls and surrounding areas as the cost/time in fuel and distance one way in and out..we thought the aerial view was spectacular

aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh You will have an awesome time.... my old stomping ground .. spent nine years running the roadhouse at Mt Barnett, so I will be interested in hearing how it is going now. VERY EXPENSIVE But spend the night at the campsite by the river, with everybody else of course . It is a busy time of teh years.

Do the walk up to Manning Falls it is well worth it.

Breakdowns.......dont do it lol tyres are usually available at, Imitji from Neville Hernon, or Drysdale Station and Barnett Roadhouse (well I used to do them) If John & Annie, Lisa and Joanne are at Drysdale(the owners absolutely awesome peeps) give them a huge hug from James and Pauline.

You get up there and have a great time.....
    Looking forward to your report

Well, we're fair weather travelers too..in fact IF we get to walk to the falls (3 hours) I'll certainly be too knackered to walk back after a couple of beers...that's why God invented choppers

When we did the trip several years ago, we chose to walk in to the falls and fly out in the helicopters. It wasn't so much to save the effort as to give us the chance for some aerial shots of the falls and surrounding area.

At the time, the helicopter was very cheap; about $15 each I think.

Hi. dont want to be the bearer of bad news but atm the Gibb River road itself is opening to traffic soon, but all side tracks are to remain closed for another 4 weeks (mid June), maybe, until tracks are graded. So no access to any of the spots you will want to go.Friends of ours in Broome have just cancelled their trip and are bypassing and going through to Kunnunura.
Check the road conditions before you leave.
