    Ebay forwarding agents ?

I'm looking at some stuff on Ebay in the US. The problem is that the seller will only post to the US but I know somewhere a long time ago I stumbled upon an agent that I can get the item posted to who will then forward it on to me (for a fee of course). Has anyone used one of these agents and are there any pitfalls ?.

    Thanks,
    Anthony.

What is the problem with these merchants? If they have to take a local parcel to the PO, what is the difference to taking an international parcel to the same PO? It is easier in most cases. You use an International Priority Fixed Rate box supplied free by the USPS and do the customs declaration on line on their web site.

I get quotes from US suppliers and if they dicker about international credit cards and shipping I tell them I use merchants who do my bidding. Do YOU want my business? There are other merchants who do.

I find the same with US sellers. It seems they have no idea how easy it is to post a parcel overseas.

I've come across a few US merchants that won't ship overseas due to zone agreements or if you like, legal agreements with the product's owner/manufacturer who are in similar tie-ups with importer-Agents overseas.

My recent attempt to buy a Maglite (torch) charging cradle is a case in point.. Buying via AMAZON.com it's only $21. Here its around $60 or so. But the company is'nt allowed to ship to me, but instead referred me to the Australian Distributor.

Another thing you need to watch is the "co$t" of shipping. As has been pointed out, it seems to be an area of ignorance - and extra profit.

To give you an idea.... I bought a pair of JDM headlight globes for the "Leader of the Opposition's " car, and put simply, whoever I looked at in the US, was going to relieve me of $100.
    - They were $99.95 a pair with "FREE" shipping, or $75 + $25 shipping.... or $25 with $75 shipping charges... Locally, the pair were around $160.

Obviously they were gunna screw me for "$100" if I did'nt live in the US.

Some on-line business ventures exist in cyber-space only, their products are actually handled and shipped by,,,, dunno what we'd call them, but specialised warehouses that stock a huge range of stuff and all they do is pack & post individual orders for differant on-line firms. Most of the stuff is sent by courier, UPS or DHL or the like, so the US Postal Service is deliberately excluded. - Once again, due to symbiotic tie-ups between packing and Delivery companies....

This explains the odd occurance of seeing the same line of items in several on-line retailers, at differant prices... but being sent to me from the same "fulfillment centre' !

To be balanced, last year we bought a Flight (computer flight sim) Yoke from another yankee business, and was charged less than $40 shipping.

The yoke is like a gaming steering wheel, only bulkier, but not a heavy item...

It arrived EIGHT days after ordering on-line. !!!! Was posted on Day 2, when my account was debited.
And yes, it was in a US Postal Service box.

The shrt answer is, 'Yes' they CAN do it if they want.

    James Mc Scrooge in Gosnells

PS, I found another Amazon supplier that IS shipping my $21 cradle and $5 power lead to me... total including $10 'shipping' is $36 Oz. I can live with that !

Didn't you know.....The world stops at the US Boarder. When I was over seas we used to 'priate' the US Arm Forces TV.....and you would get 'World News' and it would be all about the US.
