i would love to do what you are doing.
BTW - i have heard that Geese (Spelling?) are extremely good lawn mowers and will only mow it down and wont kill it. I guess you could get BIG eggs from them too (?)
you have to tag goats too by the way
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

Wow, three pages in a couple of hours !!
It looks like the nays have it so the sheep are goneski. I won't be there all day & don't fancy spending weekends looking after them.
Saying that though, I don't fancy cutting grass either but I might investigate the Jersey option down the track.
Thanks for all the informative replies.

OR you could just grow my hay....sorted![]()

I can sense a BIG, BIG AULRO BBQ coming on, plenty of spit roasted lamb/ mutton, some goose liver pate for appetiser, and even a dexter on a small spit for those of us who prefer beef in bitesize morsels.
3 1/2 acres can hold a few people and landies, a marquee and a band, scott.

There are two basic types of goat, those that leap fences in a single bound, and those that burrow under fences.![]()
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
KEEP THE SHEEP!!!
I had two sheep on 3/4 of an acre up in Belgrave, VIC. Lots of rain, lots of grass. Maintenance = drench once a year. You never have to shear them because if they need shearing (12 months), its butchering time!
The local butcher charged me $20, to turn 2 lambs into roast, chops, back strap fillet etc. Lamb cost me $30 each, thats $40 in total for about 25kg of prime lamb. Nothing tastes better. If I did have to get them sheared, I found out when the local famrs were doing it, and they charged me $10 each. Rotate them with new lambs every 12 months.
The lambs will be more loyal then dogs if you bottle feed them...and they taste better!
They will eat the roots, if there is no grass left. They would rather eat the grass! If it gets short, but a bale of hay!
