    Vlad,
    Circus in town.
Still a bit skeptical, looks rather small for a full grown Tiger head. I nursed a baby that had a head that size. But hey weirder things have happened. Shame to shoot it and not catch it instead.
Will wait with abated breath for the zoological reports.
Shooting near a road with heavy traffic, thats a big no no.
Just checking it is May not April isnt it??

    It's definitely not April Craig.

Trap it? Are you serious? Who goes hunting and also carries an array of bit cat trapping apparatus? Would you try to pick the bugger up?

As to the zoo, I gather it was at a zoo on the gold coast? (don;t hold me to it though).
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Can't have been too well protected then can it? :-)

Anyway it was probably armed so he could plead self defence.........

    Regarding big cats?

When the US invaded Australia during the 2nd world war a lot of them had "Mascots" here unofficially and amongst them were a few big cats, add to that illegally imported animals by collectors in the 20th century set loose or run away and its plausible as hell.

I also knew a bloke who was a contract shooter and a damned good shot who has told me stories of feral cats he has shot in national parks that were either very very evolved or not from domestic stock.

One he picked off on a farm that backs onto state forest in Southern NSW was "the size of a ****in kelpie" and he doesnt drink, smoke anything illegal or take drugs.

    So it is possible.

No shooting it is a far better idea - think I can reuse your smilie here. What a

I still dont believe this, but if your 'mate' did really shoot an endangered tiger he should be ashamed of himself.

    You don't beleive what exactly?

As far as being ashamed, I don't think he would have known it was a bloody tiger at the time he shot it eh !

Not convinced re the US Army story though it has been doing the rounds for years. The escaped circus animal / released from a bankrupt circus scenario is more likely but still not highly so. In my opinion.

As far as feral cats go some fo them are very big. But not "small tiger" big.

That he actually shot it, and its not some sort of wind up.

So is shooting at an apparently unidentified target good practice?

I think I shall rest my case. These stories have abounded for years from the US mascots (try and even verify that one) to all sorts of big cats. When 'concrete evidence' is tested it always fails to live up to the hype. Here we have a 'photo' of a tigers head. Shown on a forum? This guy is sitting on a story that the media would pay heaps for. A small fortune to be made no doubt and all he has to do is have it authenticated. I will gladly eat an enormous slice of humble pie if this ever sees the light of day. I'm tipping I will go hungry.

    Interesting story Vlad...

One question if you don't mind, why is your mate so shy about coming out and going public? Everyone would want to hear about this if it was true and yes the story would be worth big bucks as Stealth says.

I might be wrong but, I would bet if a zoo was asked to check if the head was a tigers and they thought it was then I would imagine they would report it to the police or customs for investigation. Why? trafficing in body parts of protected endangered species is a crime even in this country.

Pardon me for being sceptical but I am. Mind you if your mate is proven to be telling the truth then I will be the first to apologise for being a sceptic.

    cheers,
    Terry
