Oh Boy... We Got STUCK today!

Sorry guys, no pics but will try to paint a picture for you.
Headed up to the Taponga River (Vic high country) along Dray Track and onto Bull Run track yesterday. Found a nice caming spot next t the river and had a lovely evening looking at the stars, chatting and having a red or 3. The trip in proved pretty easy although I did have the CDL in (I usually follow the LR advice on this and engage it when there is some possibility of losing traction). the tracks were wet, but not a problem. That was Saturday.
Over night it rained, then on Sunday morning the mother of all thunder storms rolled across the High Country and dumped a huge amount of rain over an hour or so. This might get interesting I thought.....
Well we were fine for the most part. With camper in tow, we followed 15 Mile Track and then turned onto Still creek Track to get back onto the Warby/Eildon road. All was good.... by the way, the rain just kept pouring.... after a couple of slippery bits I came to this hill which had obviusly just been graded. Oh Boy I said the swmbo in the passenger seat, this looks like it will get interesting......Hmmmm was the only thing I heard.
Well.... rear locker in and off we go..... got about half way and there was no go, in with the front locker..... no go. Backed down a bit... well slid really trying desperatley to keep some control of the camper as well. Tried to forward with both lockers.... no go.
Finally backed all the way down but the trailer slid off the side of the track. Managed to back it a bit further so it was on a bit of a mound, put the jockey wheel on, unhitched it so I could concentrate on getting the car out first.
Got out the long handled shovel, cleared in front of all four and let the tyres down to 14psi, still no go. In the end, I pulled out the shade cloth we use under the camper floor and after a couple of attempts, I got the Disco moving and up the hill, God it was like driving on ice.
Now, how do we get the camper out??????
Drove the Disco back down just past the camper. Decided to try something innovative.
Hooked up an old snatch strap through the trailer chains , around a tree and to the tow bar. The idea was to drag the front of the trailer around to right angles to the track, then hook it again for a direct pull down the hill (not much of a hill really, well this part wasn't). I removed the jockey wheel so that it wouldn't break and thought the drawbar dragging would also provide a brake so the trailer wouldn't come chasing me down the hill.
All looked good, started to pull and sure enough the trailer was doing as expected..... then the bloody tree i had the strap around broke off at the base!!!! BANG onto the Disco! Luckily I had a heavy duty roof bar across the back of the roof and it took the entire shock and was undamaged.
Put the strap aorund a much bigger tree and continued..... slowly slowly we got the trailer back on the track and in a position that we could get it lined up for rehitching.
Hooked up again direct from the Disco to the trailer (no tree) and dragged it down the hill with its brakes on almost full so it wouldn't chase me lol. Got it down to the flat bit .
Next was to jack up the draw bar enough to get the jockey wheel back on, then get it all back on as it should be and drive out!
All this took place whilst Huey sent a torrent of rain down on us
Anyway, Me and the missus got out, very wet, no damage and with a story to tell.

Yeah i know the but when you're both ankle deep in mud and just trying to stay upright the thought of pics isn't a priority LOL.
And yes, she's still talking to me, pretty good wife I have , and anyway, if she wasn't talking to me, my dog would be .

    Thanks for sharing the experience.
What changed second time around that enabled you to get up the hill and home?

Went back out the track we came down and took the longer route back out.

And yes, I know we should all travel with another vehicle and usually we do, this was just a spur of the moment trip Tell me that we don't all take the chance from time to time.
