    Sorry to hear, Mark.

My folks got knocked off 4 times like this - coppers reckon it was definately the same people doing it. The last robbery they came through the tiled roof and through the manhole!

We installed a monitored to base security system and a Snow Leopard (it was in Adelaide) and that fixed the problem.

Lets hope people such as these can be caught so that their socio-economically deprived / abused childhood / addictive personalities can be professionally counseled.

After a very thorough search by forensics today, no prints, no clues sorry to say.

Loss adjuster turned up re last week's theft and didn't dispute anything I'd claimed which is good. Was a bit surprised to find forensics here doing their thing until I explained about yesterday! Saved him a trip I suppose.

    Window replaced. Security screen ordered.

How does one removed finger print dust?

Sorry to hear that. I'm of the opinion that breaking into someone's home should attract particularly severe penalties, it'll never happen though.

Wot are youse on about, breaking and entering is employment! If you have ever listened to crims, they call it an "earn" as in earning an income, so it must be employment.

Without crims doing earns, think about the expense on the taxpayer for all those unemployed, police, forensic technicans, magistrates, judges, court clerks, security guards, burgular alarm installers, insurance assessors, barristers and prison officers who would be on unemployment benefits.

If you think about it, the burgulars are doing a service to the community!

The RACQ loss adjuster pointed something out to me today. There are ~10,000 QLD police officers. From the police report numbers I have been issued from last Tuesday and this Tuesday there has been some 2500 reports registered in one week; all of which have to be actioned.

We need more police me thinks.

Just re-iterating what I put in the other thread. Make sure your alarm installer puts some duress buttons in at the same time.

Also, I cannot stress enough the importance of having the alarm monitored by a credible specalist Security Monitoring Centre. Also make sure they are accredited to the appropriate Australian Standard (AS2201.2 - 2004)

By having a monitoring company advising the police of an alarm, you will get a better response than if you ring them yourself. By having the alarm event sent via SMS to your phone, you then have to do something about it. What happens if you are at work, out to dinner, at a party, in the movies??? You have to leave, drive home, and walk into a potentially dangerous situation.

Additionally, Qld will go the way of the other states, and only accredited alarm companies will be allowed to report alarm activations.

Compare like for like, and the lowest quote may not always be the best. I know there is an expense here, but the safety of you & your family has no price, and neither does their mental well-being.

The sad fact is, that now you have had 2 breaks within such a short period of time, your insurance company may insist on a monitored alarm. The off-set is that it may lower your premium.

If you have any alarm related questions, send me a PM & I will see what I can do to help.

Your right that more police are needed. That works out to 1 officer to look after 185 sq kilometers...

In NSW, they look after 51 sq kms.
In Vic, it is 20 sq kms

I wont bore you with the per capita numbers, but essentially, the whole country needs more police, and they need to be better resourced.
