Has the Peugeot 404, 504, 505 had a mention? I think all three sneak in the those two decades.
The 504 has always been one of my favourite cars, though I've never owned one.
I think it's right up there with the RR Classic for timeless styling, in sedan form anyway.
I not so sure of the French habit of stretching the wheel base as much as they seem to when making a wagon
And you can get it in a diesel.

I had a Renault 16TS and it had 5 doors - was a nice car to drive.

A good friend and his family ran a wrecking yard from 1955 to early last year. Land values brought about closure.
He reckoned Renault 16's were bad wrecker property. He said they had a magic engine and trans that seemed to go on forever and they sold bugger all of these bits. However the bloody things rusted like a seaside iron roof and the suspension fell to pieces toot sweet. Nobody wanted power train bits, only body and suspension bits, all of which were rooted.

Mates ex-fiancé had an Mi16 405 back in the mid nineties and he reckoned it was a good bit of kit, but you have to take that with a grain of salt, he was into Land Rovers too (had a 110 with a 4BD1) and had a Fiat X19 stashed under his mums house
I've never seen a 405 wagon in Australia but you do see the odd 504 and 505 wagon around, less so these days.
I've actually been thinking that an old DS Citroen would be cool as a run around car except the FIL has always had Citroen's (his current drive is a new C5 wagon) and well, that wouldn't be cool at all, particularly with our history![]()
I had mine for a year in the UK and drove it all over - Lands End to the top of Scotland. Bought it for $500 and left it in a car park 12 months later and told a wrecker to come and get it. Yep rust was big time and the coolant and engine oil were one and the same and it ran and ran and ran. Even with something allowing the oil.coolant cross over it still did 80mph and 30mpg.

I didn't see the Morris Marshall mentioned. IIRC its engine was a 2.6L version of the BMC C series which normally was 3L. My father replaced the single Solex carby with twin 1.5" SUs from an old Riley. It would do 100 mph according to the speedo - eventually.
