Psychic predicts fuel problems and costs of repair

On the weekend my wife went to the Psychic Fair and had a reading (yes I chuckled too when she told me). Some of the stuff was pretty spot on but general in nature. But then he says "who owns the white car?" (the defender is white, on jack stands in our carport 200km's away) "My husband"- "Well I don't want to say it's mechanical but more like something to do with the fuel system and it's going to cost about $2000 to get it back on the road" or somehting to that effect. Now given all the work I am doing on it in preparation for our trip it probably will add up to $2000 or more.
Now my question is should I replace the fuel pump.

I am regarded as cynical when it comes to this stuff but I am also open minded and was quite impressed by this.

-Most common colour vehicle is white
-fuel problem can be accounted for alot of problems
-2 gorillas is a good stab for vehicle problem costs

what if your fender was red?

and your mrs best friends husbands mate had a white falcon... should he replace the EFI fuel pump instead?

Don't replace it, but pack a spare, just in case

    Let me consider?

    How many people:
    1. In Australia own a white car?
    2. who go to a "psychic" know someone with a white car?
    3. who own a car have problems with their fuel systems?
    4. have car repair bills that cost $2,000?
Now if the "psychiatric" had said why is your husband's white Defender up on stands? Then I may listen to the fuel system prediction.

    But then I'm a cynic!

Yeah I know the tricks that are used but I am still impressed. I also like the fact that he charged $50 for half an hour .

Depending on which motor it has V8 or Diesel i would just pack a spare pump, maybe borrow one from a forum member, or you could try to get a new one on loan from a Landrover repair specialist, the type that supply touring spare kits, pumps, hoses, belts, uni's,tie rods, etc. all of which can be returned to their stock if returned in good condition, the vehicle owner only charged for what he/they consumed

I am a skeptic, a member of the James Randi Foundation and it almost makes my blood boil to hear these "mediums" ripping people off blindly......because that's what this medium did to your wife.
if anyone wants to know how hard James Randi works to eridicate this vermin goto James Randi Educational Foundation

Gives credence to the saying "There is a sucker born every minute". No offense intended, but how anyone can place any faith in what a "psychic" predicts is beyond me.
