well the story developes, the driver has contacted me twice over the weekend asking me not to lodge a claim.......it turns out he is on his last warning due to prior poor driving history, i'm thinking maybe he shouldn't be driving buses

apart from a tail light assembly and tow ball.................what else can i add into the deal

I'd be getting your chassis measured to make sure it hasn't been tweaked

As indicated mate, get the truck checked out from front to rear. You never know what may have happened to chassis etc etc as a result of a hit by the bus.

Did the cops turn up? Doesn't really matter. Neg drive on his part, just exchange particulars and pleasantries, get yourself and ALL of your passengers checked out by a quack and inform your insurance company asap and let them deal with the paper warfare. If he is on his last warning, it's for a reason - but that ain't your concern. Lodge your claim and look after number 1.

Yep, dead right. Twice I have accepted the sob story, and both times I lost out.

Get that chassis checked - there can be a lot of damage that dosn't meet the eye.

    G'day Weeds

Ooh Dear! damaged suspension bushes, and look at the "A" frame ball joint it's clonking really bad! that bend in the radius rod wasn't there before, and the front/rear wheel alignment is weird and there is a kink in the right chassis member, and look at the rust mark under that rivet

    cheers

By this, I assume that he hasn't lodged the report with his company which I am certain is required before end of shift
    and
therefore hasn't reported the accident... THAT CAN BE OF CONCERN TO YOU!! As soon as you can you should report the accident to Police to ensure it is reported in a timely manner (requirement in SA is 24 hrs, I assume its like that everywhere)

This guy is knackered now - if he reports the delay will cause them to sack him, if he doesnt it will come out anyway and he's gone.... how will he explain that damage to the bus (or has he left it for some poor other bastard to wear?)

I suggest you get everything completely checked over and report it, if he is on his last warning then it isnt your fault! Its a pity but it doesnt justify you losing out... Lets be honest your not going to get much from him vs from the company.

    Arr.... thats what BCC is!!

You "NORTHWEGIANS" speak a different lingo to us down here so we get easily confused.... by the way that makes his lack of report worse!!

Make sure you claim WEEDS, even if just to get the money back for all those parking tickets AULRO members have gotten in the past!!!
