I guess the response from the owners is to be expected. A lot of interest over the years, but no real knowledge of their $$value would make them defensive. Throw in the old city (rip off merchant)/ bush (yokel thick-head) stereotype expectation and you have your classic "Failure to communicate".

Has anyone over west attempted to bring an credible, impartial 3rd party into the discussion?
Someone from a military/ SASR museum to give an indication of value to the owners and can put the case for rescue/ resoration without a perceived vested interest.
When there's an impasse, you need a deal broker.

I think up to a point, a lot of people think that just because it is an old land rover, it is worth big $$$. I had someone the other day try to tell me that his old landrover PTO from a series that he was looking at selling (just the box, no winch, no driveshafts no controls) was a super rare accessory and was worth several thousand dollars. And he was serious!

I've seen a late S2a in average condition at a car dealer that was priced at nearly 7 grand. Examples in better condition go for 3k on ebay.

    Delusions of grandeur!

Most I have seen in OZ tend to sell for around $15k average price in running/registered condition.

The cheapest to most expensive I've see in the past three years, $5k to $30k.
In my opinion, the Australian delivered ones (ex-ADF) would attract a premium.
The two on the Gibb River Road, for example, I would estimate to be worth $10k to $15k (if running and drivable) for the green one. $15k would be top dollar as it appears not to be ex-ADF.
The white one I would estimate to be worth between $5k and $10k. It is difficult to put a price on it as I have so little information on it.
Would I like to own them both?
    Yes.

    G'day Palerider

That would be about the average price, one ex-UK would cost approx (UK pound) 5000 add to that the storage, shipping brokerage, sea freight, customs duty,(one that I know of was valued @A$10,000)then over there would be Aust shipping agents fees, wharfage,DON'T FORGET washing on arrival here so it would cost approx $14-16 K in your front yard, then you would have to get it going and up to an Australian roadworthy condition and rego (Qld about $1000 for a V8)

    cheers
