At least they don't have those stupid leaky alpine windows. Who needs extra heat getting into the cabin?
7 Bde has been on the move back to Brisbane from up north (Shoalwater, I assume).
We were heading into th ecity playing spot the vehicle types (IMV, GS FFR Mack etc), and I was explaining the difference between 2 GS 110s and the following Command 110.
I heard myself say "The Command is the one just like the basic civvy vehicle without any creature comforts and it is the nicest vehicle for the bosses so it is called a Command. Yes, the most comfortable field vehicle for the brass is worse than the most basic Civvy vehicle!"
Sums up life in the Green Machine, I suppose
; )

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Pretty certain that the command vehicles are fitted with AC (unlike the civvy povo pack). No load leveller or carpet trim tho.
AC !!! Luxury!
Pretty sure this command had Alpine windows and safari top.
Dave.
Bloody Luxury!!!!
We used to live in a wet paper bag!![]()
Aaahhh,
'Pends on the model!
IF you are talking about the hard top command variants purchased as part of the initial Project Perenti in the 80's, then they are exactly the same as the 110's. Isuzu, 4 speed etc etc. No A/c ...nuffin. In fact the rear seats were removed and replaced with a vinal cover bench, not unlike a school bus seat.
IF you are talking about the supplimentary purchase of hard tops purchased over the last 5 years, well they are a povo pack 'Fender in british racing green (oversprayed with olive drab). A/C, TD5 (yes TD5), 5speed and all the stuff you'd expect on a early 000's fender.
Cheers
Ralph
Interesting - I'm certain that the ex-salvo senior command (early 80's) that Inside now owns was originally fitted with AC. The previous owner had it for sale about 2 years ago. Metal box painted in standard olive paint, possibly fitting between driver and passenger (I'm only guessing here - it was already pulled out when I saw it).
Could it have been fitted by the salvo's afterwards?
The genuine Perentie Isuzu "senior commander" vehicles have a super heavy fibreglass tropical roof, but no alpine windows.
Re the A/C, in the Isuzu era the A/C was a unit that filled the parcel tray and had no external air vents. Maybe the senior commander vehicles you are thinking about were the later Defender Td5, which have an underdash unit with the opening air vents and maybe it was those that had the alpine windows.
