Thread: Are you a structural engineer, feeling bored and wanting to do some beam calcs???

I have the makings of an overhead gantry/beam crane.
I have no doubt that it will easily heave the usual suspects such as <400kg engines, gearbags, tinnies, trailers and steel sections etc etc.

Im wondering if any engineer type would be prepared to establish a SWL for me? I have tried using online beam calculators but would like a pros opinion.
Payment of some sort can be arranged.

I have specs, drawings I can forward via email.

I looked at my old engineering books but can't seem to understand the contents any more... 30+ years on it's all Greek to me!

Try a steel supplier, if its new steel they should be able to do it for free.
