Steak - how many times do you turn yours

    Twice for me
Only ever on a hot plate never over a grill
Rest for about half the cooking time
    Preheat plates
Hopefully I have a nice medium steak

Well that's how my rib fillets went last night

Three times, the last two times only quickly just to put the meat back into the juices that it has been cooked in.

I always cook several snags first on the plate before putting the steak on though as this adds flavour and keeps the plate moist. I need to keep the plate moist as the average steak I cook is between 1.5 and 2 inches thick and if the plate is not moist the steak will burn and dry out. I don't always eat the snags though as I said they are used more often then not for flavour.

I only let my steaks rest for a maximum of five minutes though while I clean the plate by the time I have cooked them I would rather eat them then stand and look at them.

I like mine medium rear and given I'm the cook that is how everyone else gets theirs as well.

There is nothing quite like a medium rear 1.5 kilo T-bone and a good bottle of Shiraz to put a smile on my face.

    cheers,
    Terry

Ok peasants...........you turn a steak once.........that's it. When I cook my medium rare steak....there is no hoping its medium rare.....experience yields a perfectly cooked steak. Also olive oil should be on the steak not in the frypan/ spray oil on BBQ and BBQ/pan should be as hot as possible. The let it sit for half the time you cooked it....ie if overall cooking time was 10mins....let rest for 5....here endth the lesson ,

Or an even better version is to let SWMBO cook it for you - after she has been educated in the fine art of correctly cooking a steak of course.
    Cheers .........

**** me dead no......bloody hell mate...and here I thought we would be BOMFE (Best Online Mates For Ever ). I would never let my missus cook my steak...wash, clean, vaccuum, polish, conjugal duties.....resounding YES.......cooking my steak.....HELL NO .

I'm hard pushed to let someone else cook my steak when I have been invited to their place for a BBQ. It still sickens me to remember times when I have seen a few hosts....who......geez...can I even say it...............slice the meat to see if it is cooked....FFS........utter...utter.....disgrace to meat lovers. Should be banished to vegan/ vege whatever the **** they are land ,

    Regards
