    If it was in the SMH it would also have been printed in The Age.

    In the preliminary Manheim-Fowles anouncement several months ago it was 500 vehicles, Land Rovers, UniMog, and Mack but was unclear if that was at the initial auction across several sites during June, or across all sites across a number of months June to November.

    Now that has been pushed back to August for the start.

    Are Manheim-Fowles still doing Bandiana auctions? Last time I was there it was done in-house by local DMO & BAE staff.

    You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Well it is military equipment, so you probably count the major spare parts as well.

    1 gearbox = 1 truck
    1 engine = 1 truck
    10 wheelnuts = 1 truck

    It may have been a typo/misprint

    This from Wiki in regard to the Bushmaster but referencing an overall vehicle replacement project;

    Thales Australia has developed a civilian fire fighting variant of the Bushmaster called the FireKing and a military cargo carrying variant called the Armoured Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV).[5] This variant is currently being evaluated for service with the Australian Army under LAND 121 (Project Overlander), which will see the replacement of up to 2,000 vehicles and trailers.[6]

    Ref : Defence Today, "Bushmaster selected for LAND 121", March 2010, p. 2.

    Army surplus sale in 1990

    I was involved in selling a large number of International trucks and a small number of Landrover 'blood boxes' in Melbourne in 1990 and I have always regretted not buying one of the Landrovers. I recall that the Army was under pressure not to dump the huge quantity of spare International truck parts on the market so we bundled spares with each truck including spare transmissions, transfer cases, and lots of other stuff to the vehicle load capacity as a bargain lot. Would have been a good buy.

    I wouldn't count on the Government allowing such a sale these days
