Tough? He was a veritable Superman! I read an anecdote by someone who knew him back in the day, about Toms strength and ability to heave a 44 gallon drum full of fuel from the ground up onto the tray of his old Leyland. The old 44 gl drums were made of much heavier gauge steel than more modern drums so we'd be talking around 140-150kgs when full.
