    Wondering exactly the same thing?

Spinifex, will do that and the Japanese love their protection guards.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

And I still get looks when i talk about pocket survival kits and carry a grab bag wherever I go. A grab bag/ sat phone is no use stashed in the back of the car or under the swags.

yep, the grab bag (and first aid kit) belong in the door pocket of the door your sitting at OR between the seat and the door.

    as another hint...

most times in a situation like that the vehicle burns from the back forwards, zip tying a grab bag to the bull bar is worth doing if you cant get it onto the door or alongside the seat.

So do modern LRs - my D4's guards get clogged with mud so would expect the same with spinifex.

The first thing you do before going to spinifex country is to remove all, or as many of the guards that you can.

The second thing is to regularly check for and remove the spinifex build up, particularly around the exhaust pipe and near the brakes. and that may mean every couple of hours in heavy going.
