The mere fact that both the hilux and the navara were still there when the tide went out tells me the sea has taste..... tried both and hated them enough to leave them where they were!

Off the thread a bit but -- When I was in Darwin in the 80's, the RSM at Larrakeyah at the time was keen on getting the Sgt's mess together on social outings , one of the ideas was, when the tide was right, going by boat to a local sand bar, and having drinks and eats and a jolly good time, until a 6 ft croc. was found on said sand bar - ended that. They also took the Larrakeyah beer can boat right across the bay for a trip, and bbq, [properly escorted, of course] Ah , Darwin, gotta love it! Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Towing fail: 4WDs sleep with the fishes after series of comical errors at popular Dar

Navara and Hilux - I don't know why they went to so much effort .

A STRING of comical errors has seen two four-wheel-drives and a boat trailer sleep with the fishes overnight off a popular city beach.

when I lived up there it was a regular occurrence not only at Casurina Beach, but also at Vesty's where on low tide they would drive way out to launch a boat then bog it on the way back.....same comedy of errors.....I might be picking on toyota drivers here but it was always a tojo left to drown, I guess they did then and still do , think that their vehicles are invincible.

I watched a similar thing happen at Byron Bay. We were sitting on the beach and next thing, down the sand bar (which was only just dry) drives one of the original Tarago's coming to retrieve their boat. I said to my mate "watch this!". As fate would have it, they get stuck up to the gunnels by the slowly rise water before even hooking up the boat. Next along come two young guys in an old 90 or series (can't recall which). The $#%^head refuses to help. He also gets caught by the water. Then the cavalry arrive disguised as two beer gutted, blue singlet wearing older gentlemen who remain parked on the remaining dry part of the sandbar and dish out the winch to the hapless fools. The old guys epitomised the 4WD ethic which hopefully the younger LR drivers adopted later in life.
