    The end is near

    Gday All,

Well after 28 yrs of prawn fishing and spending anywhere from 6 to 11 months away from home, I have accepted a land based job from the end of this year.
I will do the most of our next season and ( august- oct) and give a young up and coming skipper a go for Nov and if they workout then all of next year.

SWMBO has done an amazing job raising our daughters in my absence, but with 1 now left home and the other doing yr 12 next year then joining the Navy its time for me/ us to start the next phase of our life.

I will be taking over as the Darwin manager of a major seafood company due to the retirement of thier current manager ( who I have known for my whole fishing career ) so will be slotting into something I know a fair bit about..

Anyway am excited about the oppertunity, time will tell how SWMBO and even me handles being on land fulltime, but am sure it will work out fine. Worse case is I end up fishing again in 2013..

A big plus is I might be able to drive the D3 every now and then, but seeing as I will get a company car I dont like my chances..

Dont worry we will still be offering prawns to Aulro folk each christmas.

    Cheers Ean

Good luck with your new job. I am sure it will take some adapting but am sure you are more than able to handle it.

Nice to know that sea food for Christmas will still be through "a man we know in Darwin"

Best wishes Ean, perhaps in the future, you will have the luxury of having holidays when you choose and the job will be more steady on the legs

Congrats to you for the new job, Ean, and especially to SWMBO for doing such a fine job without you...

Remember, as the boss, you may need to go out on the boats once in a while... Just to check things out, of course...
