    Lifes' Seasons

    -Warning: red wine ramble ahead-

For a while now I have been contemplating how we go through life and that which once was important becomes less so. Somewhat like how as the seasons pass through the year humidity and rain changes into blue skies and windy days and nights.

Just now I was reading a thread in the camera corner talking about the extensive lengths gone to ensure safe backing up of photos taken on a trip. Im not as old as some but old enough to remember shooting rolls and rolls of slide film. Ive still got the little blue and yellow boxes collecting dust. I then went digital with my photography and have giggle bytes of images collecting whatever giggle bytes collect.

My fishing passions likewise - not too many years ago if I went exploring to a new lagoon/headland/beach location you would find me down by the water flogging it to foam from dusk till dawn. Trying to coax any possible piscatorial prey from the water.

Hmmmm, just last weekend me the old boy and a couple of mates shot up to Ninian Bay for a three day weekend. I took exactly zero photographs despite it being a bloody amazing place. Beautiful sunsets with granite outcrops glowing in the late afternoon sun. We fishd. I caught a barra but never really went hard chasing fish left right and centre.

I was just happy and content being there and enjoying the bay for what it was.

I know that I would have had a very different weekend but just a few years ago.

There is something special about appreciating the moment without trying to capture it or maximise it.

It wont be too long before I go back. It wont be the same. It will be interesting to see how long this season lasts.

You're spot-on there, and I reckon the seasons change less often but with greater magnitude as we get older.

You certainly know how to stir up a change in my seasons just by the mention of Ninian Bay, and of course Cooktown - two of my favourite places in the world. Life gets in the way of me getting there these days, but that too will change.

I know exactly how you feel, and I'm only 35

Just this week I made some changes to my life (definitely for the best) and look forward to more meaningful time with my family

My 'happy place' is the Snowy Mountains - we're heading back down there in about 2 weeks time, so I'm blissing out already
