G'day Folks
In the days of BMW's ownership of Jaguar/Rover and Landrover, in the 1990's they had a huge crackdown on the name and oval logo as an infringment of their copyright,British Off Road, then known as Land Rover Land recieved a very threatening letter which the then owner/proprietor showed me, it was written in the form of a standard letter which would have been sent to any business using the name Land Rover in their trading name, that is why Stuart changed it to British Off Roadthis threat looks like the same type of thing being issued to any US company using the name "Rover" I wish them luck, as the septics don't take things like that too kindly
cheers
They did this about 15 years ago in the Uk. All companies in the Uk with land rover or rover in their name or using a copy or logo that look like land rover had to change their names. One of the biggest compaies effected was rapid rovers , does not mean alot to you lot but they built Brain Adams ( signer ) 100 inch hybrid VOD. They had to change their name
There was a bit of a fight because at first they also wanted to stop clubs using the logo and name. But they backed down in the end on that. I ran a large south uk land rover club at the time and was in the middle of the up roar and fight over it
