The Wallabies returned home from England in 1909 as Olympic Gold medal winners in what must be one of the most bizarre episodes in Olympic history. Australian winger, Dan Carrol, 19 yrs old, was one of their best players.After the Wallabies toured the USA in 1912, he settled in America.was captain/ coach of the victorious USA side in the 1920 Olympics, and coached the victorious USA side 1n the 1924 Olympics. So, in the Olympic Gold medal tally for 15 a side Rugby, USA 2 AUST. 1 [although I think I read somewhere the USA won 3 Gold medals, but not sure] Bob
