Unhappy Trouble getting on to AULRO??????

Just wondering if anyone else is getting the "Aulro is Busy" thing. I got it yesterday and there were only 120 people on at the time. Never had a problem before, just the last week or so.

    Inc is working on it....

I think there is a big drain on the server from the site getting hits form searchs or something like that....

most people are experiencing it including mods

One of the issues is that searches like "New Posts" use up more server resorces than browsing by forum.

While there may not be a lot of users/members online at a particular time there is additional load from internet robots reviewing AULRO pages for internet search engines like Google, Yahoo etc. You only have to see the number of times AULRO comes up on an internet search to realise that the robots are in there using up the AULRO server resources.

There will be a new larger, faster, better AULRO server shortly but not for a month or two, so we will continue to get the logon screen occasionally for a while.

So to ease the load, it would be good if members browsed rather than searched. Go to the forum you like and review the threads and then go to the next forum and review, etc, etc.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Problems Getting In

Is it just me having trouble accessing this forum. I do know that there are upgrades coming but last night I kept getting the

"AULRO is very busy at the moment. Registered users get priority when system load is high. Please try again later. To avoid this message, please register or login."

I was logged in. I kept trying and when I did get in I would read a page on a thread. When trying to access the next page problem happens again.

I gave up in the end and came back again tonight only to have the same problem.

    Dave.

If we could access the site, we'd search. Oh, but a couple of posts above, it's says don't search the site.

Seriously though, I'm getting fed up with the whole not being able to access the site business.

Why wouldn't subscribers (I.E. Paying members of this site), get access before non paying Joe Blogs?? If there is a strain on the system, give subscribers first crack, and dump the others out of the site. I really am finding it hard to justify paying for something that I can hardly use, especially as there seems to be no real benefit over being a non paying registered user.

I really do enjoy AULRO, hence the reason I parted with my hard earned to help support it, but I'm not enjoying the recent and ongoing frustration in trying to access it.

It's easy to say to be patient, but putting it into practice is another story.

    Rant over

I understand your rant but I'm sure those involved are doing their best to rectify.

Yeah, it is frustrating but as already been mentioned all we can do is wait patiently until the problems are sorted!!!

Paying a subscription not only gives you priority access to the site, but I'm sure it goes a long way towards Inc being able to provide us with such a damn good site. I'm not up with all the server tech stuff, but I'm sure the servers would be as good as the budget allows.
If a couple of weeks of minor log on issues is all we have to endure, I reckon that's a pretty small price to pay for what this site provides for the Land Rover community as a whole.

Really, when you think of it, how many problems does this site have.........bugger all.

    Imagine if it regularly crashed
