Unhappy HELP! Car trailer needed for one day!

Hi guys, I've recently purchased my 2nd 1989 Jaguar XJ40 Sovereign. The problem is that it is on the north coast of NSW. I live in Sydney and was wondering if anyone knows a place who hire out car trailers which can hold over 1800KG. I've searched everywhere and all that I can find is car trailer which can only hold 1300kg.
    Thanks,
    Tom

In Seven Hills just down from the end of the M2 there's a new 7-11 that has a large new trailer (with a hell winch on it). Was there when it was a mobil, I can drop in and check tomorrow if need be. I pulled a RRc on their last one.

    Lety me know.

Yeah thanks that would be greatly appreciated. I live in Hornsby so that's not too far away.

You could try Mark, East Coast Towing, 0417317397, he seems to go back and forth between Sydney & Brisbane quite often.

He has a tilt tray, he can cope with non-going vehicles which may not be readily accessible on a level road (which most of the regular transporters won't touch).

    I've found him very good,

substantially less stress & IMHO just as cheap as doing it yourself if you factor in your time etc

Dunno about NSW but in WA all trailers with override hydraulic brakes are limited to a gross mass (trailer and load combined) of 2 tonne, after that you need air or electric brakes. The hire places are onto it too with public liability etc.

SA too, I believe its a national standard. Normal car trailers weigh 6-700kg empty so 1300kg load is about right. Go the tilt tray, its far safer.

A car trailer with car is no different to any other trailer as far as regs go - for a towed weight - under 750kgs no brakes, 750kgs to 2000kgs brakes ie override/electric, over 2000kgs electric brakes (hydraulic brakes ???) but must have electric break away brakes.

Finding a hire car trailer with break away brakes will be hard.

The electric brakes require the control box to be in the towing vehicle as people have said tilt tray. Unless you know of a bob cat operator that having a slow week.

Brakes on all wheels over 2000kg with break away in Qld. It does not specify electric, although this is by far the most common and cheapest. I have a mate with a hydraulic breakaway setup on his boat trailer (no electrics in the water), but the pump unit was very exy.

Finding a hire car trailer with break away brakes will be hard.

Our local plant hire place (HandiHire) has a 2800 kg hire trailer. I would imagine other similar places would as well

There is a system that has all the electronics on the trailer and as such does not require the "in car" controller. The down side to it is that your cannot control the trailer brakes independantly.

Tilt tray still your best option IMHO
