Urgent - Welders help needed - Ipswich

Found the clunk in Lara, the RH Trailing arm axle side mount holes are elongated.

I urgently need the help of someone who can either use my stick welder or come round with a mig to weld in the repair parts for me...

If I had the time/gear to pull the rear axle out I could probably manage it but where it is now is beyond my abilities.

Dads due to drive out on monday.

Hmmm, obviously hasn't had a spanner on it since you last saw it over west dave, this isn't all that uncommon.
Sorry I can't help due to distance but I have had to do this before a few times. Have you got time to replace the bush and bolt also? The inner steel tube on the bush flogs out also (Becomes narrower) and makes it hard to tighten sufficiently even after the repair to the arm bracket.

    Hope you are well

I agree Justin, when I replaced my suspension bushes,I found all the mounting bolts worn, some were easily noticeable by the amount of wear. But some didn't look worn at all,and it wasn't until I checked with a micrometer, that I was able to find how far they were actually worn. And when worn they flog the holes out fairly quickly, due to the fact that no matter how tight you do them up,there is always movement.
I know this doesn't help Dave, but I am also a little far away to drop over and carry out the required repairs.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

    jobs done....

dad was busy on the lathe making up some replacement parts from some old rangie hocky stick bushes I was going it flat out to get the front rotors pads and bearings done....

mrs ho har has the pics but basicallly

    1. make up 2 stepped sleeves to go into the holes the bolt goes into on the axle mounting side (ID~17mm, step od 20mm 4mm long overall od 22mm 20mm long)
    2. make up a spacer the same length as the internal sleeve of the bush in the trailing arm
    3. grind out (drilling is better if you take the hub and backing plate off first) the exisitng bolt holes to suit the stepped sleeves (20mm)
    4. insert the spacer and the stepped sleeves, spacer in the middle, stepped sleeves on the outside with the steps facing in
    5. wind the stepped sleeves in using a bolt the same diameter as the normal bolt. Hammer the brackets back into their normal shape if they've crushed inwards over the spacer
    6. weld the stepped sleeves in place leaving the bolt tightened up to maintain alignment
    7. remove the bolt
    8. remove the spacer
    9. cut the stepped sleeves back square so that they finish up just taller than the weld
    10. replace the trailing arm.

    jobs done.
    Dave
