I can only comment on Hyundai's in general, as I haven't yet driven the i45, but I have hired many Hyundai's over the years. They have made huge strides in equipment, styling and build quality, and the engines have improved steadily.
The one downside is steering and handling, which is still pretty awful. They seem to design for the US market, where handling is not an issue! If this is important to you look elsewhere!
Kia's are now starting to be better in the handling department, following input by Aussie engineer Graeme Gambold. They share platforms with Hyundai, but the resale value is worse!
I'd be checking out Mazda 6's, Subies, Honda Accord's etc. A few more $$ but much better cars, if handling is important.
Cheers,
Lionel
