Who has driven to top of Mt Kosciusko?

    Anyone else driven up there?
Sorry about the photo but 10 odd years in a box in humid P.N.G. did not do my slides any good.

In 1973 in a 1960 SII ragtop shorty.

The gate was open and no sign, but you needed a 4WD to get up the pinch from the new carpark cut to the old roadway. The road near the top had eroded away so was barely wide enough for the Landy and I dropped a muffler at the top when I crossed a boulder turning around.

I didn’t actually drive, the old man did the driving but he has a picture or two, taken around Christmas time 1969, at the top and still with a bit of snow around the place.

I went with my parents in the early sixties in a Morris Marshal wagon. I'll have a look for my photos.

    Hi,
nearly got to the top in Jan 1971, a snow drift just prior to the summit was a bit much for the motor bike.

    cheers

In Summer in probably 1972 in a HD Holden Wagon.

I don't have any photos but my Mate probably still has his.

    A quick edit.

It was 1972 in a Holden FE Wagon as part of an attempted round Australia trip.

    My mate has photos somewhere.

In the early 60's in an Austin Freeway Wagon (as a passenger in the back seat - I was too young to drive then).

Then later when I was old enough to drive, in a Holden FB Panel Van with a Chev 307 V8 in it. Original steering and drum brakes (with no power assistance) made it an interesting trip.
    Cheers .........

Excuse me, theres a kiwi on that door!

Don't you know you're not allowed to take exotic animals into national parks!

BTW: the rear canopy looks like the Olding canopies used by SMHEA.
