something fishy about this D3 HSE

Something fishy about this D3 HSE?
Seller starts listing at 99c, has 2 bids now at $5.50.
Says if you bid without his permission he will cancel your bid. Then states later the buy it now price is $20K and you must contact him
    May be it was underwater?

Hmmmm. Something a little off there. I did think the whole concept of ebay was for people to bid on items. Everything seems to point to contacting him????

Yes - has all the indicators - not sure how the scam works - I assume the winner pays before seeing the vehicle and of course there is no vehicle.

I have contacted these types of listings before indicating I would like to view the vehicle next day and all of a sudden the listing has gone.

The listing doesn't even meet minimum requirements. There is no VIN, rego, or other identifying numbers listed. Clearly a scam. I think I'll send him an email and see what comes back...

Edit - just sent an email requesting to view the vehicle... I also asked for a rego number or VIN... See what happens... Not much is my guess...

I just placed a bid to see what happened (for $20) . I was outbid straight away. Suprise suprise.

I didn't even know you could remove someones bid if you didn't want it there - what is the point of that anyway? Isn't the whole point to get the most amount of bids???

As Garry said, it's a NSW Euro style plate. I have Euro style plates on my Mercs. They start with a V (Victoria).

The dealers feedback as a seller is excellent. You have all the info to do the checks with the RTA (check it's not listed as a write-off).

It may have issues. (Lets face it. If you say that comment about a Landrover you have an extremely good chance of being right.)

If I was after a D3, I'd bid. (after the usual checks of course). It's a steal at the moment at that price. Just get him to ship it to Simsmetal for the $100 and pocket the $80 profit.
