    oops! (Houston)

Link sent by my brother in Houston - it seems a semitrailer tip truck was proceeding north on the North Freeway at about 65mph when the driver accidentally operated the lever to lift the trailer. Because of the high rpm it lifted quite rapidly, contacted the girder supporting signs over the freeway, and separated from the prime mover. All northbound lanes were closed for about eighteen hours.

    some gantry !

I would have expected the trailer to take it out (if it was actually travelling at speed when it connected).

I note that there are quite a few overhead gantries being erected on NSW highways (presumably for camera mounting for future tolling ? ) ...

They would be vulnerable to being taken out similarly I expect

I'd be surprised if it was not travelling at speed - I have never seen anyone travelling as low as the speed limit (60mph from memory) on that section of I-45 except when forced to by congestion.

I saw that on the news. I wondered how that trailer got up there. What was he thinking?
