Spent a bit of time in Namibia a few years back. Fantastic country and well worth a trip.
Is anyone interested in a 21 day tag along Safari in Namibia mid next year. Landrover Defenders, landcruisers and Nissan navara available for hire. This is into very remote country and you will be well away from civilisation for most of it. The going is slow over rough tracks, unmapped but preplanned and gps routed and guided. About 100 kms per day at times. Amazingly beautiful and harsh desert and semi desert country, plenty of game. Outlay for the safari will be about $3k to $3.5kpp - 4 to a vehicle plus airfares and spending $$ of about $1k. Must be prepared to fix puntures, sleep in roof top tents, behave sensibly, protect the environment we travel through and respect the very few locals we may meet on the way. This is some of the last unspoilt areas of Africa. 5 vehicles max.

Mike, Wish i had the time and the money!
Will keep your details for the future.
Dave.
Defiantly interested mate. I'd be interested in shipping my own car over..

Would be a great trip, i've done Nairobi to Capetown but missed out on Namibia due to malaria. I would also like to sip me own vehicle over if it was cost effective or buy a vehicle in SA .

Thanks for the great comments on a Namibia trip.
The cost of hiring a 4x4 there is far less than shipping you own over.
I can get a fully equipped for camping for 4 people Navara for about AU$110 a day insured, thats $27 pp. Strong aussie dollar!! so over 20 days its only $2200.
But Mike, you've missed the essential element here - Why would I want to spend 20 days in a Navara?
Its quite a process to take your own vehicle which does include "red tape", African Style. The shipping cost along could be the same as a hire vehicle, having said the if $$$ are no object.......why not.
For 21 days it wouldnt be economical to ship your own vehicle but while you are there you may as well take 3 months and do all southern africa from Kenya down to SA. I've done it in a leyland truck and would love to take a fully kitted defender and do it again with my kids.
