I'M BACK

Welcome back Brian.
When I was a young fella,ALMOST 30 years ago:p:p:p:p,me and a few mates used to take pleasure making a mess out of Yankee sailors(I grew up in Fremantle and was a regular in the pubs well before been legally allowed to do so).
The fellas that were true to their wives back home wernt interested in chasing Aussie chicks,all they wanted was to get on it with Aussie blokes and TRY and out drink us.They ALWAYS bought plenty many much than their fair share of drinks and usually ended up throwing up all over the place.Quite often the pubs would get the MP to remove them from the premesis.By this time we would have the next group of sailors well on their way.They really enjoy the aussie accent and the silly things we say and do whilst acting the goat in the pub,always asking,what does that mean.
Plenty of respect for them,ALWAYS true gentlemen,never looking for a blue like aussies when they drink a hatfull.

If someone knows how to shrink them to e-mail size in batches rather than singly, please tell me. I have around 2000 photos to resize and doing them one at a time will take forever.

I have enough rare and exotic engine photos to atart a new thread "What engine is that"

Yes indeed. I had to wear a helmet as the two seater I was squeezed into was in the fast group. Slow group are restricted to max. 60 mph and don't have to wear helmets. Fast group can go up to 160. I had 5 laps as a riding mechanic in a Miller 183 from the late 1920's.

Some of the 60's Indy roadsters were going past like rockets and we were going around 110-120.

Mmmm. 110 -120, and that folks is in real Miles Per Hour :D

Not bad for a 1920's open wheeler;)

Uncle, I missed out on rides at Indianapolis (pillion passenger in a stretched Indy car) and Las Vegas (Nascar) as both tracks suspend the ride programmes xx days before events so they can prepare.

Milwaukee is a one mile banked concrete oval. Lap record is getting up around 180 mph by current Indy cars. The old cars can give the throttle a big push coming off the banked corners and get up speed down the straights. None need to slow much for the corners which is just as well as old speedway cars did not have much in the way of brakes.

An early 30's Miller V16 ran like a top all weekend and easily passed us down the straights.

Just like historic racing here, some owners/drivers get out and really get into it whilst others are more mindful of the age (both cars and drivers) and staggering value of their mounts.

Uncle, the winner of the 1930 Indy 500 averaged 100.4 mph which included pit stops so the cars of the era must have had pretty good top speed.

Try a freeware program call pixresizer - it will do them all at once if you want.....
