Sensible technical discussions should really be in another thread
OEM 4BD1Ts had 120-150 Bhp at the flywheel, so there would likely be a few on here (e.g. Rovercare's) that are pushing 200 Bhp at the flywheel.
Carcrafter22 in the US has posted:
I am not sure if he has dynoed it yet, but even the most conservative calculations would put him way over 200 Bhp at the flywheel. This is my 67 F100 it was built for cruising around town and so far has done a best of 32mpg's in town and 34 mpg's highway after 3000 miles of use. I have an isuzu 4bd1t 3.9L diesel engine with compound holset turbos and it will spin to 4500rpm. ... I am currently running a 700R4 auto but will be swapping it for a built 4l85e from a 2007 duramax ...The truck is still a work in progress but is coming together quickly. I estimate power around 450rwhp but will hit the dyno soon to confirm.

What we really need is some error bars on that graph ...

Combustion chamber temperatures at TDC? Is the variation in cylinder head pressure with temp relevant?
Maybe this is a good thread for someone to explain why a Defender needs an engine that provides the pulling power of a Mack truck, and the acceleration of a Maserati.

Phew. A Mack Titan weighs about 30 tonnes (not sure if that includes a trailer or two) but a tenth of that is nearly the weight of a Defender. The Mack has a GCM (Gross Combined Mass) of about 200 tonnes so a tenth of that is 20 tonnes and that is a big load for a 'recreational or enthusiast' Defender owner to want to tow (though I am confident that a Def. could do it). Interestingly the Titan has a 600 hp 15 litre Cummins diesel. So a a tenth of those is 60 hp and 1.5 litre. Now, I will leave it to you Diana, as the resident expert on such things, to tell us what Landie had an engine that produced about 60 hp and had a capacity of about 1.5 litres. Interestingly, the current Puma has a 2.4 litre engine (soon to be 2.2, I know) and produces 122 hp. Does that make a Defender twice as good as a tenth of a Mack truck?
Cheers
