Question Help..Trying to remember name of old Sci Fi Movie

Well not only am I a Land Rover tragic but love old Sci Fi movies from 1950's and 60's. You know, The Day the Earth Stood Still (the original one), Forbidden Planet, When Worlds Collide, War of the Worlds, and so on.

There is one I have been thinking of but cant recall its name.

It was about these aliens send down a box of bits and some instructions on how to build this alien "machine". It was like a compact alien computer (about the size of a Kelvinator) , kind of like "Contact" (1997) only better!

Anyway thought there might be another nerd out there that would remember it.

Found another old one today "The 27th Day" (1957)!

    Sad, I know.

Not the time machine I seem to recall one that he was a pilot/inventor who had some plans (from aliens) and was building what ever it was from them

Yeah that sounds like it. The machine had parts that looked like one of those model atoms that we used to use in Chemistry classes.

I had a look through IMDB for Rod Taylor and couldn't see anything....Mmmm..Cant see anything here Rod Taylor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia...

I dont think it was an Ed Wood film Blitz.....although I see someone is doing a remake of "Plan 9 form outerspace."

Hmmm, did they get a parts list to make an Interocitor

An Interocitor would be better than a UHF any day. But made of 'vacuum tube technology far beyond that of Earth'? I don't think so.
