I would have thought it is only g-strings or "mankini's"and not speedos (unless you row surf boats) which are anal ?

I'm not sure about the "once in a lifetime" bit.

When I had my 1969 Crown, I saw the odometer click over to 00000.0 twice and they were miles, not kilometres.

It didn't quite make it to 300,000 miles.

Perhaps I was anal about odometers (as opposed to speedos) because I saw almost every occasion that the odometer produced a row of identical numerals. On the other hand it might have been that the Crown proceeded at such as leisurely pace that there was plenty of time to glance at the odometer.
