Sorry if this has been posted already, but this looks to be closer to the heritage of the Defender at least there's some resemblance..

Military? They don't. Not their market anymore and LR were uncompetitive in it. The military Defenders were not selling in their traditional markets (e.g. Oz, NZ, S Africa, etc.) and they could not be easily adapted for protection against the IUDs that kill so many in hot spots around the world.

Farmers don't buy them, they buy Toyotas or Isuzus, or tractors or quads. Construction engineers and miners aren't buying them much anymore because they are too expensive (?) and it has been a long time since I saw a new Defender ambulance that is outside Britain.

NGOs will buy whatever is available and cheapish. There is no brand loyalty.

They long ago decided they were going to aim at the luxury market (with the huge success of the Range Rover). Rightly or wrongly. So all their new models are lifestyle oriented - just look for example at what they did to the Camel Trophy/G4. It went from a hard core man and machine contest with nature to a gay metrosexual sashay through the mountains and rivers.

This redesign caters for all that is luxury and metrosexual, with a little touch of the dangerous for the thrill seeker.

Face up to it guys and gals: Land Rover have deserted you, their core market. They are not interested in your ardor anymore, they want the bucks not the loyalty.

Yeah it was. Interesting design but a bit dated.

These are show concept vehicles, designed to make an impact and create interest. I'm sure we haven't seen the workhorses yet.
Given that the traditionalists are only buying 20,000 Defenders a year worldwide, they obviously have to aim for a bigger market. They could leverage a whole range of variations off this platform if they're smart.

What - an ABS plastic land rover replacement?

Unless I missed it I am surprised no one else has picked up on this. Well the body shape is a bit more acceptable than the DC100 offering from Land Rover

With this model they want the Chinese, Eastern European and Brazilian markets.

    Thanks disco2hse

This company (Tecdrah) has realised that with the demise of the Iveco (Santana) Massif there is a market for a replacement for the utilitarian four wheel drive be it Land Rover or from some other maker. Land Rover seem with the DC100 to want to abandon this market.

Now even Jaguar are going to build a SUV to compete with BMW etc. So we look like seeing more and more vehicles in the Jaguar/Land Rover luxury lineup. The reason they only have such small sales with the Defender is their own making - refusing to listen to customers and starving development of the Defender while pandering to the luxury and "unnecessary" four wheel drive market.

One thing that has not received much interest was a reference to the Defender replacement being rear wheel drive with Series like dis-connection to the front differential. Anyone else see that - can't seem to find it for a link. So it would appear that the forty year love affair with constant four wheel drive is over. The Evoque apparently will also be available in a two (front) wheel drive only version.

based on the link, the other option seems to be changing sexual preference and hanging around Adam Bandts electoral office and latte shops in inner Melbourne.
