The lease on my current Defender runs out in 2015.....
I'll be keeping it forever unless Landrover can pull a rabbit out of their hat!

I agree that this is the best outcome that is likely. There is no doubt that it is necessary to replace the Defender - it is too expensive to build and has problems meeting many design rules (its continued production today is only possible because of grandfather clauses). Unfortunately, these design rules make it almost impossible to produce a real replacement for the defender, at least at an affordable price.
Not a direct personal concern - I expect my 110 will see me out - I doubt I will be driving for more than another twenty years at the most, and I'm only just now doing the 520,000km service, so plenty of life left in the old girl.

Like I've posted before,if you want a machine to drive the kids to school buy a Klugger or Outlander so you can be a tough bushie 4wd driver who wants to be a 4wd owner but really doesn't want a 4wd and leave the Defender for the people who do want a true 4wd and do need a hose out interior and decent range and off road ability. There are now frontal impact rules for both vehicle AND pedestrian...
The new vehicles all need to meet these requirements...
The front bumper to me doesn't matter as it won't be on long!

I wonder what the cab / chassis version will look like!
talking to a nieghbour that has a work TD5 130.i think it was 2006.
he got it this year as a used vehicle as other crew cab 4X4 arnt up to the job on a nsw mine site.
the water turns the roads to slop--im guessing construction sites in northern australia is the same.they use tyres like 205 dunlop road grippers.
Ive heard they often escort other vehicles towing then to the work site.
The new defender looks more like a FJ Toyota ,looks nothing like a landrover, bet the Toyota will be cheaper. So no new defender for me.1 lost sale for Landrover.
Looks bloody awful paint it blue and call it a landcruiser
Stick a bull bar on it and it will have the approach angle of a Holden Commodore. Interesting that the pictures show it going DOWN a bunch of steps - looking at that front overhang it wouldnt get up those same steps.
