I personaly would just be putting the tow cars reg number on it. I measured the length of a No5 trailer and it is only just outside the length that does not require Vic reg. You would be pretty unlucky to be questioned on it. I have run around with a 7x5 trailer and have had police following and no problems. maybe I'm just lucky.

If you do want to get it Registered just get all the lights working and good tyres and make an apointment at vic roads for an inspection. If it doesn't have a id plated or serial type number you will have to get one stamped on.

Give Vicroads a call to get a R number. Stamp it into the draw bar (or somewhere easily seen) and somewhere else not easily seen.

You don't even have to stamp it. I have a 6.5m trailer with an id plate pop riveted on, same as my 6x4. It's a piece of **** and costs about 30 bucks.
