The first one is a "HAL" 210 cubic inch, also known as the "Big Bertha". These engines and a number of SOHC & DOHC conversions for Ford T, A, B, C engines were made by Harold Hosterman of Akron, Ohio. He used his diminutive 'Hal" as his brand name. HAL 210's won the AAA/USAC Championship in 1936 & 1946 The 1946 Championship is disputed as there are several different opinions as to what races were run and were they "Championship" races. I have seen a number of these engines and all differ in some way. The core engine is the same however.
A Championship race was supposed to be run on a track of at least one mile and minimum 100 laps.
The second is a Renault 12-F 300 horsepower used in WW1 in Brequet 14 & Voisin 10 'planes.
