I used to live in Newman in the 1970s. I loved it up there. Went camping in all the water holes around the area. Top spot.Lived at N11 Fortisque Ave.
Thanks Craig. amazing to see.
Can you put some perspective to some of it for me please?
How high will the soil lift on the larger blast's?
Cheers Maurice

Really Hard to put perspective on it but a bench is about 5-6m high. The pit itself is about 7kms long.
Look for the shots that may have a truck in the background they are about 6 - 6.5m to the tray, The Liebherr excavators are about 12m to the apex of the arm. The olde electric shovel are pobablly 15m -17m.
Some of the blast are huge and loosen 10s of thousands of tonnes. The soil can lift anything from 1m to 3m deepnding on the blast, the blast dirt you see can go anything from 12m up to 20 m even 30m depending on the blast pattern.
Cheers

N11 was one of the flats. I remember one of the blasts went a bit wrong and we had rocks come through the workshop roof. We were well out of the way though.
