would someone care to comment on what it is what makes them illegal or a RWC fail?

An illegal b/bar on a car is any that are upright or have a forward slope (as pictured) i.e the bar must have a rearward slope.

On a 4wd or truck the bar can be upright but must not have any forward sloping component.

The bar cannot have any protrusion forward of the barwork, i.e. aerial mounting brackets, winch gear or fishing pole holders. These are what Police would be looking for.

For RWC there would also be issues of air bag compatibility, manufacture date of the vehicle and compliance measurements.

    Bullbar

regards to all the legal requirements but what about the effect of having all that bulk and weight forward of the front axle

Cos that'd go well on a farm wouldnt it? It's destroy the chassis on the car when it hits the first pothole on the way up the driveway! That said, it's a mean bull bar and that on the car looks pretty fully sik!

Actually the term 5 poster simply means 5 vertical posts.
I used to have 5 poster on my xf ute, which was angled forward in the traditional B&S style, and it was roadworthy as ADR's are not retrospective of age of vehicle. I'm not sure if i'd get away with the same bar on a new Falcon.

I have a smart bar on my current falcon which is a bit more "friendly", i miss my xf though, & the bar was great for parking as you could clearly see the front corners.

It takes all kinds I guess. But I often wonder what 'statement' these big truckie wannabe morons are trying to make
Would it be.'' I'm the biggest drunken idiot in me village with nothin between me ears and even less inside me jeans''?

I think it is the less between the legs, [ and the ears ] the more that is spent on " look at me " accessories. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
