    * The bull-bar shall follow the profile of the vehicle to which it is fitted.

    FAIL

    * Fitting the bull-bar must not increase the width of the vehicle (excluding the mirrors).

    PASS

    * Any sharp edges on the bull-bar shall be chamfered or radiused.

    PASS

    * No open-ended frame members are allowed.

    PASS
    * No small components (such as brackets) shall be attached to the front of the bull-bar.

Fail to follow the profile of the vehicle. That abortion stands out prouder than a newlyweds oldfeller!

I'm guessing its the same message that gets broadcast by the numerous kitted up 4wd's that never leave suburbia..... "I'm a tryhard les hiddens/leyland brothers/malcolm douglas wannabe"

Anyway, as to the legality in NSW where the vehicle (and the roo bar) resides:

    http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registrati...s_nov_2007.pdf

    Requirement
Schedule 2 of the Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2007 requires the following:
    Para 25 (1) Protrusions
‘An object fitted to a vehicle must be designed, built and fitted to the vehicle in such a way that minimises the likelihood of injury to a person making contact with the vehicle’.
Note: Para 25 (1) does not apply to an object fitted to a vehicle designed before 1965 and the object was part of the design of the vehicle, or the object was fitted to the vehicle in accordance with the law in place where the object was fitted.

    Para 27 (a) Driver’s field of view
‘A motor vehicle must be built to allow the driver a view of the road and of traffic to the front and sides of the vehicle so the driver can drive the vehicle safely’.
Of particular concern are the ways in which items protruding forward of the bumper or bull bar are fitted eg. accessory fittings attached to the exterior of a vehicle such as brackets supporting aerials and lights.
Also of concern are bull bars that have sharp edges and pointed corners or bull bars fitted with accessory attachments such as fishing rod holders, lights and mounting brackets for such fittings, and any fittings that affect the field of view of the driver.
    Fitting of accessories:
Reasons for rejection under Para 25(1) are provided in Rules for Authorised Inspection Stations (Light Vehicles) -
Rule No. 105.04, and in Rules for Authorised Inspection Stations Heavy Vehicles - Rule 505.01. This bulletin provides further information to ensure the consistent application of the Rules to bull bars, accessory fittings and the manner of their attachment/s.
It would appear that untill the new standards are released, that bar could only be deemed to not comply with the regulations in that the bar may obstruct the drivers forward vision.

As for the ADR's, there is the NSW RTA's list of ADR's, I do not see any pertaining to the design or construction ofbull/roo bars.

    http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registrati...s_nov_2007.pdf

For what its worth, from a quick look at the Queensland transport website, the rules are the same up here.

does anyone else want to add an "I think this is the rule" to the bonfire of crap that helps the politicians?

saying "five posters are illegal" is the same sort of idiotic thinking that nearly saw the car community in NSW (and potentially Australia wide) slammed with the restrictions on raising/lowering ride heights on vehicles......

Actually a revised VSI-50 is about to go back to the legislative phase, portal axles will be out and essentially 4" max combined suspension, body and tyre lift.

So get your vehicle certified now.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Les's Rovers were basically stock standard, when they weren't military ones, the Leyland Bro's started in a combie van, and Douglas had an old Toyota, from memory, very few mods. on any, but I get your point, Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Apart from all mentioned, do you think this bull bar is Airbag compliant, the vehicle shown would have come out with airbags

if the sticker on the side of the bar is anything to go by, it was made by Tuff Bullbars, and afaik they dont like selling bars that arent airbag compatible, but anything is possible....

another question is, is it mounted correctly, when the bar was fitted to my ute, 2 suport bars were omitted and the damn thing wobbled around like you wouldnt believe.....

    Each to their own....

I personally would not have one, but then I guess 99% of the population wouldn't drive around in a lifted white camo (cow) disco with a duck and aussie flag on the front either......

I get lots of positive comments on my car, but I bet I get many more negative comments that I never hear

oh well, I like it, and it has nothing to do with whats between my legs
