    Top Gear Australia axed

Channel 9 has decided to shelve the last episode of the current series due to the ratings being so bad. Personally I only ever watched a couple of episodes and didn't like it. Not a patch on the U.K show that Ch9 have also just about killed..........Send it back to SBS!!

SBS built up Top Gear with regular scheduling and support. Since buying it, Nine has ruined it with irregular scheduling and general stuffing about.

I wasted too much time with that show hoping something was going to show up and be fun

as for Nine getting it, **** adverts, its a 1hr show, don't spin it out to 90 mins with 10 min ad breaks at the end......

Watching Top Gear Australia is like picking a scab...you keep doing it in the hope it'll get better. But TGA has been like the scab that just keeps bleeding and never heals...

They've never hired the right presenters for my liking.

They also seem to have pitched the program at the lowest common denominator with respect to viewers. I can't recall an episode that has been aired where there hasn't been a misinformed rant about something they believe their small minded viewers think is important eg. urban speed limits as revenue raisers and speed camera conspiracies to name a couple.

What puzzles me is how the 9 network was able to justify another 2 series after SBS washed their hands of it.

Bring back the good old days of Top Gear UK having 10-14 episodes in each series.

I too watched and hoped it would get better, until last week when they lost me completely by using a snatch strap to break the lock off a gate they came across on a bush track. I know it was all set up, but it does send the wrong message to the morons out there that already do this...

Game over for good I hope.

Same for me too, it's about time it went. They tried to copy the format of the UK program (don't kow if they had to keep the format for contractual reasons) exactly. Wrong presenter with no real personality and cr*p scripting. When I watch TG UK and they have a laugh you can tell they are really enjoying themselves but the Aussie one you can see it's all scripted.
There is so much to see and do in Australia that could have been covered rather than slavishly copying the UK stuff. They did an episode last series where they took 3 old cars out to the outback and that was enjoyable.

Ch 9 also trims the UK show to fit the time slot. You see the full version later on Go!

I gave up on TGA after the first few episodes. It was crap.

    Can be done

Australia has enough larrikins, that a ripper TGA is possible. I would like to see them keep trying. Start with 3 different presenters and a more policically incorrect script writer.
