Bay to Birdwood 2011. Where were the landies?

After a spontaneous drive yesterday through the hills, I realised that the Bay to Birdwood was on. Remembering that it was the 1956 to 1976 I thought it would be a good chance to see a few landies.

Fairly early on a nice grey Series pottered past ( I tried to grab a photo on the phone but missed it). A bit later on I caught a glimpse of an Ex-Mil IIa(?) which I hardly saw as I was helping a guy on a motorbike find his centre spring that he lost somewhere along the way. It was a bit sad really, I was hoping to see a few more than that.

There were a fair few other interesting vehicles though, including an ex-mil humvee (never thought I'd see one of them in Aus). Where was everyone?

It was a good day regardless sitting on the swags in the sun watching the cars drive past though. The hands got a bit sore from waving after 3 hours though

Rare to see Landies in this sort of run. Though they meet the criteria the purists on the Bay to Birdwood run would not be pleased.
My Dad, who lives in Murray Bridge has a 1966 Prince Gloria that he is hoping to have running for next years run.

    Pity isnt it?

well we have 2 years to get a mob in.....

I can offer paddock room around our place (near waikerie) to stay in.... will organise firewood and power, work on shower facitities etc.... IF anyone is interested

then maybe we should do a convoy down the night before and a night at ??caravan pk ready for an early start for the B 2 B ?

(Im hoping 2012 I'll be on or driving our CFS 1924 garford fire appliance (now just a hose carrier unless I can find an appropriate pump ?? )

my 56 should be apples by then...(2013)
as should...... well lets not go there!! (unless of course I have a gunbuggy by then.....anyone....anyone......bueller???)

    cheers

I did see a couple of ex-mil Landies.

However, as I was driving the opposite way at the time, it was a bit hard to make out details.

Mind you, there were probably only 3 or so that I saw, so you are right in saying that there weren't too many at all.

Plenty of Mini's thou. Must have been in excess of 20.
