Solar eclipse Nov 2012
Greeting All
There is a total solar eclipse next year in November. The path of totality pretty much runs over Cairns. Having seen the one in Purple Downs SA yonder back I have been trying to convinve SWMBO and swmbo also (9yo) to come and see one with me.
We want to do the Cape also. Whats the probability based on rainfall of there being an earlier than usual start to the wet season??
Are we restricted to doing the Cape Week 2-3 Oct 2012 and hanging in Cairns for two ish week for the eclipse or is doing the Cape after the eclipse (Nov 14) possible...well recommended.
we have the mechanical capability to do the trip just looking at timing based on weather.
happy for your advice
Mat

Gday Mat,
Tradionally the morning glory's start rolling thru the gulf in mid october, and they do bring rain with them, but I haven't seen them that far north that early, they are mainly in the bottom or western end of the gulf.
Last year we were getting rain a couple of times a week in early November when we were fishing off weipa, sofar this year I have seen 1 rain cloud.
Guess you can always head up the Cape and just stay abit longer if the rains haven't started..
Will be a great place to see it from.
Cheers Ean
