Its got me beat why I still hang on to mine. Commonsense says I should buy a Prado. But doing that, would be like getting a Lobotomy so I don't have to think about how boring my job is.
I think having this forum sometimes causes unnecessary worry, by reading about every other owners problems. So far Ive had a Good run with it for a ten year old fourby. Touch wood.
What amazes me is how Toyota owners, seem to forget about all the things that break or cost a leg on there cars. Ive never struck it as much with owners of other makes.

    The Landy has a personality.
Yes it can bite you and take your wallet with it but it also puts a smile on your face. Landy's often do the hard stuff as a norm so you see the worst of it.

I have had a cruiser owner close their bonnet when we passed to open it again once we were round the corner, Yes we stoped and looked back and laughed. We even drove back 10 mins later to bust them trying again to hid the fact it was broken down.

I didn't know Landies had a worse rap than any other Fourby?? Like any make and model you can get the odd bad one (eg Freelander 1 petrol 1.8 litre motor) but in general they are as normal as any other make!!

There was a time when the English automotive industry was renowned for poor quality. This did not just apply to Land Rover, but to all bar one or two of the major bands. I guess when someone slings mud, some of it is bound to stick.
My personal opinion is Land Rover ‘Defender’ build and overall quality is no different to that of Holden or Ford. Sorry to say. This is my second Landy and my Fifth 4wd.
I hang with a group of guys that all have Toyotas, Nissans etc. One mate just sold a D3 that he had from new, but it was his wife’s shopping trolley and never even saw so much as a dirt road! These guys vehicles all have their problems, but they all like to play them down. One thing all my mates admit, the Defender is (quote) ‘a beast’ (un-quote).
