ACE Red light, no fault logged, seems normal
Morning All
our Second Disco, a September 02 build TD5 115,000KM
We have had the amber ACE light come on a few times and also the red ACE light with chimes come on as well, when I have had i come on, it has gone directly to the RED ACE with chimes
we have only had it two weeks and on the test drive of course everything was OK. Last week my wife was driving following us on bicycles along some gravel tracks so not going particularly fast but it was hot and dusty (tracks between Cooktown and Cairns).
The Red ACE light came on a few times with the chimes but each time, shutting down and then re-starting the lights went out and there were no chimes indicating a fault had been logged.
Driving around town I have had the Red ACE light come on as well, but the first time when pulling in to a car park and stopping, the second time pulling away from some traffic lights and the third time very slowly rolling forward at a round about and then pulling away.
the third time I had some clear road and was able to do some gentle swerves. The ACE appeared / felt to be working correctly and not more stiff.
The fluid level could be a bit higher but is above the low mark.
the under body sensor seems to be quite secure in its position but I did not remove it
The plug for the under body sensor seems clean and secure
The plug for the pressure transducer seems clear and secure
The temperature has been between 28 and 35 but I don't think there is a temperature sensor in the ACE system (and why should there be? the PAS doesn't have one)
So, the following to the collective wisdom please-
a) when the ACE light comes on, the arms go in to 'stiff' mode yes/no? (considering that when driving both my wife and I feel that it drives the same)
b) Does the ACE light come when there is a fault to tell you there is a fault or does the ACE light come on indicating a fault which then stops the system working (is the ACE light a switch that turns the system on or off or is the ACE light an indicator?) (part of the logic sequence?)
c) it seems to be an electrical issue because its a pretty simple system, pump returns to tank when not needed and when it does, a solenoid opens to the actuator (extend / retract as required) (well duh, of course its an electrical issue, but where and whats the cause?)
d) is it possible to isolate the front and rear and wait for the light to come on and rule out which end?
e) would a diagnosis with a nano com identify the problem?
f) are there any fluid flow sensors in the systems? if so, a blocked filter may cause the lights to come on
g) would a RAVE disk answer all this for me?
I have done a fair bit of research and there are not many references to the red ACE light, Amber seems to be the most common and with my weak search skills, there doesn't seem to be much about the ACE at all.
Thanks, will report back with my findings
