    New Ford Ranger web site

    Ford Australia - All-New Ranger

Very interactive, and I love some of the test they put it through.
It should be very interesting to see how the Ranger go's up against its competitors in the magazine tests.

apparrently they go very very well against their competitors......Ford australia gave a number of them to Warner Village Theme Parks as part of a promotional deal but they are an absolute pig trying to manouvre them around the sometimes restricted areas they have to enter......their steering circle is huge and they a very rough and firm in the suspension. The employees at first thought xmas had come with new vehicles everywhere, but the thrill wore off very quickly and most would rather drive one of the old utes or vehicles in the parks.

The turning circle is 12.7m, which is about the same as a D2.

Like most of the dual cab utes on the market their suspension is horrid. My previous employer used them and when travelling to work in them I had insist on driving as I would get car sick from all the bouncing around.

The 3.2 td would be a nice little unit and Id love to see the abs modulator to see if it is a close match to the D2. Watching the video's reminded me of demos Land Rover use to do with the Discos.

Do you think they would let me take the sound covers off the motor to have a look ? lol
I imagine the gear boxes would be from the same family as the Disco 3 and falcons.

What we really want to know is can we fit the 3.2 TDCI and 6 speed transmission to an LT230 and how much will we expect to pay for them and the brain to go with them?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I read somewhere that this engine is NOT based on the LR Td5, but is in fact a Puma with an extra cylinder. Don't know if that's true though, or just more gossip.

Didn't realize that the new model was already out until I saw a red one of these outside the local Ford dealer in Kalgoorlie yesterday.

At least it looks better than the "facelifted" Hi-lux which has also just been released.
    Cheers .........

quoted figures to actual results..."about the same" isnt the same........no way will a 4x4 ranger turn in the same circle as my D2......I'm not guessing, I've driven the ranger....I didnt write the original post for conjecture, I was stating facts. They cannot manouvre satisfactorily around the theme parks theyre being driven in. In fact their are very few 4wd vehicles can manouvre in the same space as a Disco.
