    tyre warranty

Been looking around darwin for new tyres,I have been told by two seperate tyre salesmen that coopers and goodrich don't allow warranty claims north of the tropic of capricorn in the NT. Does anyone know if this has any truth or possibly only salesman talk,

Warranty applies anywhere for normal use - however Coopers mileage warranty only applies to tyres purchased as used in the Capital cities.

Statuatory warranties cover damage, defects or failure due to manufacturer defects. They will not repair or replace due to punctures, use off road etc.
Often they will only give a pro rata refund based on tread depth. I have had a couple of successful claims on Dunlop and Bridgestone due to delamination problems for performance road tyres, but having said that, these were less than a week and 200kms old.
The Cooper warranty is worth nothing to anyone that lives outside of a capital city or takes their vehicle off road (or any tracks for that matter). I had a bolt go straight through a tread block on a set of Cooper STT's less than 5000kms old and they would not even consider a warranty claim. Yes through the tread block itself. As far as I am concerned the Cooper adverts are false advertising and should be withdrawn as in reality they offer nothing more than the statuatory warranty any way. Great form offering this warranty on a 4x4 tyre as long as you dont leave the city. Hence I will not buy Coopers again for that reason.
If you want something a bit cheaper and IMHO just as good look at the Maxxi's or Hankook range. I am currently running Hankooks and have been very happy with them.

Warranty on tyres in Australia are not worth the paper they are written on in my opinion and are basically non existent. If you read the warranty it will only cover statuatory requirements, and you also are required to have the tyres rotated and balanced at set intervals by the tyre fitment place for the warranty to be valid.

I am in the trye trade and you have got it in one..
To get a warranty claim on tyres is very hard and they make you have all reports and paper and then they have a look at the tyre and then say yes or no.
We had a kid just out of uni come and tell me the tyre is not for a claim so he mst know then YES i think not
