The DVD with the original footage was corrupted and I couldn't import the vision and had to wait until Saturday to get another copy.

On recent trips we have been shooting on two cameras from different angles and cutting them together to give a better perspective of what is going on with the vehicles as they traverse different lines.

The water crossing is a great example of that as one view shows the back end floating away while the other shows just how far up the doors the water went

Will knock a short version together tonight so everyone can go straight to the good stuff and get onto the edits for the whole day sometime next week.

    Cheers

    Final installment is now up.

    The Drowning complete.mov - YouTube

This has the complete drowning plus some of the other footage from the second days washed out action.

The rain was just torrential that weekend and you can see just how much water was being pumped through the mountains.

Even so, it was still a major shock to find that the little creek that crosses the track that is usually about 30cm deep had turned into a raging stream that was up over the bonnet.

    Enjoy!

Jamie, what the hell is that *crunch* as you come to a halt after each of the crossings ? Sounds like something pretty mechanical. Shifting the box into park or is it the handbrake ?

    Spot on Mike.

That would be me shifting it into park.

I rarely use the electronic park brake when offroading as I've had too many probs with it over the years locking up after going through muddy terrain.

Manually releasing them can be a complete bastard of a job and can wreck them.

Will definitely be up for a drive if we are around mate.

Not sure what plans SWMBO has in store for us this Chrissy.

Send me a PM with some dates you think you'll be here and I'll try and tee something up.

That's one hell of a crunch from the box.

Know exactly where you're coming from with the park brake, mine's currently fubar as well. It's managed to take the rear discs with it as well, overheated and warped them so the whole lot's being stripped off and sorted before it leaves. Just hoping the EPB can be fixed rather than replaced. I never saw the problem with a handbrake lever & cable myself, they're simple & just work !

    Jamie,

Another awesome video, thanks for sharing, a least you did not make your wife swim the torrent to get the best shots !.

How much water did you actually get into the vehicle ?

Looks like the Watagan's is a place we should all put in the diary for a day or weekend trip, preferable a weekend when it is not pouring with rain but one to challenge you none the less.

    Regards,

    George

Best design I've seen is still the old foot-park brake.

Easy to use for everyone and simple to fix.
